Phil & Dee

Phil & Dee are a husband and wife team, through the joyful & rewarding experience of teaching their own children Aisling & Ryan to swim from a very early age; they wanted to be able to pass this wonderful experience of baby and pre-school swimming onto other parents.

We are fully qualified swimming teachers, with qualifications from the STA (Swimming teachers association) in baby and pre-school and Swim Ireland with additional specialist training with Julie-Ann James the founder of Aquakiddies/babies. In addition to this we also hold a NARS Pool Safety award.

We are delighted to be able to bring Aquababies classes to Ireland and teach the foundations of  baby swimming to babies and young toddlers and to teach parents the correct method to teach their child how to swim.

From our first meeting with Julie-Ann, we loved her passion & commitment to deliver a well structured program which has been tried and tested for over 20 years.

Julie-Ann James

Julie-Ann James is one of the UK ‘s leading baby and toddler swimming consultants. She has been teaching this age group to swim for over 20 years and is responsible for introducing the Aquababies baby and toddler swimming programme to the UK.  Julie-Ann has just developed a brand new aqua based fitness product for parents with their babies called Parent and Baby Aqua (PABA).

Julie-Ann is personally involved in the training of all new Aquababies teachers and is a course tutor for the STA. She still teaches classes and has a roster of private clients for one-to-one sessions. Satisfied customers include Thierry Henri, Tony Blair, Jack Dee, Ruby Wax and Pat Cash.

Julie-Ann’s whole life has been devoted to teaching babies and young children to swim and her knowledge is constantly evolving though hands on teaching practice.

The best part of my job is experiencing first hand the joy both parents and children get out of the classes and watching the children taking their first relaxed breath in the water. I have found my true vocation and I feel a real sense of satisfaction in teaching parents the right way to teach their children to swim“, she comments.

Julie-Ann is an Australian who has been living in the UK for the last 20 years. Her life has always revolved around the water and she realised very early on that she had a natural affinity with children. She feels fortunate to be able to combine the two.

She was a competitive swimmer at national level when she was younger and is qualified with the ASA and STA in the UK and Aus Swim, Royal Life Saving Society and Royal Surf Life Saving Society in Australia.
